Ancient Dwarka - The Kingdom of Krishna
Ancient Dwarka
It is believed about India that we have many mysteries that are above the ground, and India also many more mysteries that are underneath its soil and are waiting for the right time to ne unearthed one from many such truth is the lost city if Dwarka is a town located in the coastal state of Gujarat in Jamnagar district. City of Dwarka is directly linked to India’s history and lord Krishna life it is one of the places from the char Dham yatra and every year crores of pilgrims visit this place. Dwarka exists from Dwaparyug.
In January 2007, the marine archaeology Wing
(UAW) of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) began excavations at Dwarka
again. Alok Tripathi, Superintending Archaeologist, UAW, said the
traditional underwater structures found in the Arabian Sea were yet to be
identified. We need to find out what they are. they're fragments. i
might not like to call them a wall or a temple. they're part of
some structure," said Dr. Tripathi, himself a trained diver. Dr. Tripathi
had said: To study the antiquity of the location in a holistic
manner, excavations are being conducted simultaneously both ashore [close
to the Dwarkadhish temple and undersea so that finds from both the places can be
co-related and analysed scientifically.
Marine archaeological explorations off Dwarka have delivered to light a large number of stone structures. they're are semicircular, rectangular and square in shape and are in water depth starting from inter tidal zone to 6 m. they're randomly scattered over a vast area. Besides these structures, an outsized number of varieties of stone anchors have been noticed along the structures as well as beyond 6 m water depth. These findings suggest that Dwarka was one among the most busy port centers during the past on the west coast of India.
The underwater excavations revealed structures and ridge-like features. Other antiquities were also found. All the objects were photographed and documented with drawings - both underwater. This presents a lot of sediments, which choose underwater structures. Brushes are wont to clear these sediments to expose the structures.
